Counting in 2's

I am learning to skip count in 2's.  This will be a quicker way to count up objects.

Reading Eggs

I am learning to make the first and last sounds so I can work out the word for myself.  Reading Eggs helps to reinforce my learning.

Acrostic poem

I am learning how to write an acrostic poem.  I know that I start each sentence with a letter of the subject.  I wrote about myself. 

"I worked very hard and did lots of words. I tried new words." Zakariah

Bird pillow

For our Art Exhibition this year we learnt how to sketch a bird.  The final drawing was transferred onto calico and dye was added.  The bird was glued onto a pillow that Mrs Scott and Mrs Worsfold had sewn.  Don't they look great!

I am learning to recognise and write teen numbers

I am learning to count and write numerals to 20.  I am learning to say the number before and after.

Zakariah said, " I am getting good at numbers and I need to look at the number line too sometimes." 

I am learning to sound out 3 letter words.

I am learning to say the first, middle and last sound in a word and then blend the sounds together to write the word.  This can help me in my reading and my writing.

"I can sound out 3 letter words if I am stuck with a word.  I can robot the word too." said Zakariah

Fathers Day

Zakariah said, "I can write long stories now. I can robot lots of words."

I am learning to make the beginning sounds

I am learning to make the beginning sounds in unknown words.  I need to get my mouth ready to make the sound and this activity helps me remember.

I am learning to make patterns to 5

Zakariah, you are able to recognise patterns to 5 using concrete materials.  We are now going to work on instantly recalling these patterns to 5.

"I can make 5 more of the pattern.  I can write my numbers right now." said Zakariah

Elm Park 50th Birthday Party

We launched our Celebration Inquiry with a huge party for Elm Park School. This year our school will turn 50! We had a great day with our school friends and our whanau.

Zakariah said," I liked the party and the games and the food was yummy."

I am learning to form my numerals correctly.

I am learning to write my numbers around the right way.  I am able to write up to 10 correctly. I am learning to form 7 and 9 correctly.

Zakariah said," I do all the numbers. I am good at the numbers."

I am learning to make the first sound in new words.

I am learning to get my mouth ready for the first sound. I can make the sound now that I know my alphabet names and sounds.

Zakariah said, "I was reading to Mrs Scott and putting my finger on the book."

I am learning Soccer skills

I am learning different ball skills with our Soccer coach. 

I am learning to listen, follow instructions and work together with the whole class. 

It was a fun morning!

Using shapes

We are learning to identify basic shapes and make a picture with them.

"The chickens eyes are circles", said Zakariah.

I am learning to use my alphabet knowledge to make the first sound in new words. You know most of your letters and their sounds.

We are learning to use water and a paint brush to blend our watercolour pastels.
